Does Glowing Skin Tell Our Story?
“Your Skin is a Window to Your Health”
At ElitePTgym, your whole health and wellness is our concern! Exercise and movement are basic requirements our body needs to stay young, vibrant, and vital in energy! We all want to look and feel our best.
We can see on the outside how we are transforming and gaining that vitality. How we are feeling on the inside shows through our skin. Skin is the largest organ of the body, and is the first place to reveal our needs.
Skin rashes and breakouts can develop for many reasons. Internal health is integral to remedy these. A rash can often be a sign of extreme mental or emotional stress. We tend to be too hard on ourselves. So ease up on yourself and give yourself credit for all the accomplishments you’ve had. Little ones and bigger ones. We see what you’re acheiving here at the gym and in classes. We are proud of you!
Watch for subtle and sometimes major changes in skin tone and texture, inflammation and spots. These can occur from various means; an allergen or irritant, an infection, extreme temperatures; noticing and taking care of it quickly ensures we avoid chronic skin conditions.
Superfoods and hydrating our systems are the best and most natural way to having and sustaining clear, healthy, glowing skin. Fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds all contain vitamins, minerals, and nutrients we need for balanced health. Each food compliments the others.
Some great additions to our diet are raspberries, beets, blackberries, pomegranate seeds, yogurt with live and active bacteria, chia seeds, citrus fruits for collagen and alkaline balance, avocado, walnuts for their richness in omega-3 fats and B vitamins, and of course eggs for muscle and skin tissue.
Men, listen up. Take care of your skin, too! Shaving should be enjoyable for you. To avoid irritating skin rashes, razor bumps, and ingrown hairs from developing, open the pores and soften the skin by showering before shaving if you can.
Pull the blade in the direction of your hair growth, and try not to pull the skin much while taking the razor across it. The easiest thing to remember is warm water first, cold water to finish. The cold water will soothe and close pores. Guys, are you tough enough to moisturize? Do it! You’re worth it and you’ll be glad you did.
ElitePTgym Personal Trainers see you, and know you’re exercising, eating well and drinking lots of fluids. Sometimes we do all we can, and still we have a breakout of some kind. In this case there’s an easy strategy for men and women both that’s natural, affordable and quick to add to your daily routine.
Three Natural Essentials – to exfoliate, treat, moisturize.
Baking soda is one of the best natural skin scrubs you can find. The particles are tiny so they won’t scratch the skin, and they lift and absorb dirt and oils. When you rinse with water you know you’re clean. Baking soda is great to keep razor bumps away, and treat pimples and blackheads anywhere on the body.
Tea Tree Oil is a natural antibacterial agent that works as a toner. Apply it to your face, or any place with a breakout, with your finger tips or with a cotton ball and let dry. (Don’t get it in your eyes.) Tea Tree Oil is also antifungal and antiviral. We use it here at the gym for Yoga mat wash.
Aloe Vera Gel is the most natural way to rehydrate skin. We can eat it, so we can put it on our skin and let it absorb. It’s perfect for everyday, and also is the number one remedy for skin burns of all degrees (Aloe Vera gel can also be used in the hair.) Apply sunscreen overtop. Use your powers of observation to ensure you’re staying healthy, strong and balanced in personal wellness each day.
